REPORTS TO: Managing Director
JOB PURPOSE
Oversee the efficient operational, strategic and financial running of the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Strategy
- Provide inspired leadership company wide
- Develop high-quality business strategies and plans
- Analyse organizational problematic situations and suggest solutions
- Keep abreast with the markets and industry trends
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction
- and focus
- Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and running optimum day-to-day operations to
- exceed customers’ expectations
- Oversee quality control throughout the company, establishing goals for each department in
- partnership with supervisors
- Developing and evaluating yearly, long term plans for financing, reconstruction and maintenance
- Submit weekly, monthly, yearly budgets and reports
Operations
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining
- quality standards
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and
- performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
- Assess operational risks to the company and ensure they are monitored and minimized
- Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
- Responsible for production output and on-time service delivery
- Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
- Advise on waste water improvement technologies and innovations
- Stay up to date with latest waste water management best practices and concepts
Workforce Empowerment
- Organize and train a high performing team
- Enforce human resource policies and procedures
- Address employees’ issues or grievances
- Influence and learn from below
- Lead with an example and motivate subordinates
- Encourage employee engagement
Compliance
- Ensure company adherence to legal guidelines and in-house policies
- Represent the company in external meetings as required at official functions, industry events
- and public meetings
Quality, Health, Safety & Environment
- Commit to plant safety procedures
- Ensure effective running of health and safety policies
- Set a personal example on all matters of health and safety
Financial
- Review the company's financial and non-financial reports to take strategic decisions
- Submit and control budgets and expenditure
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
- Perform other duties assigned
Required Skills or Experience
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- MSc degree in Chemical/ Bio/ Sanitary/ Environmental Engineering. An MBA certificate will be an added advantage
- Must be a member of a Professional Institution.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Have a minimum of 15 years relevant working experience
- Be a member of recognized professional body and familiar with industry standard equipment and
- technical expertise
- Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand and inventory processes
- Proven managerial and Plant Manager experience
- Ability to solve problems, lead and manage teams
- Must have strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
- Must be a computer literate
