REPORTS TO: Sorting Plant Supervisor
JOB PURPOSE
Supervise and direct other employees’ daily routines and interact with crew to ensure they have a satisfactory experience. Act as quality control, ensures customer satisfaction through employees’ trainings and adhering to company policy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating a shift schedule, assigning duties and ensuring a shift tasks are completed as scheduled.
- Direct and monitor sorting and materials recovery processes and activities.
- Ensure that all recovered fractions are recorded and routed to the appropriate stations for further action.
- Liaising with quality control team, to ensure sorting and recycling activities are carried out to achieve effective results.
- Liaise with maintenance team to control downtime during maintenance activities.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Ensure effective usage of personnel protective equipment (PPEs).
- Submit daily operational report for sorting activities on time.
- Keep daily operational records of all sorting activities.
Required Skills or Experience
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Considerable knowledge/understanding of recycling materials.
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of legislative requirements relating to occupational health, safety and environment.
- Excellent knowledge/understanding of Health and Safety issues and codes of practice relevant to environmental sanitation/waste management.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and often stressful environment.
- Excellent attendance record and trust worthy.
- Good knowledge/understanding of waste management practices and its environmental impact.
- Good planning, documentation and organizing skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and execute projects.
- Good knowledge in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and other software and tools relating to transport management and operations.
- Good decision making based on thorough analysis.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
- HND from an accredited University or institution in a related field.
Experience:
- Four (4) years working experience with at least 2 years in recycling leading hand position.
- Experience in running a recycling program and training in waste management processes, recycling, and one year experience in public contact work and/or experience in program coordination; or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience.
- Knowledge of large-scale recycling, waste segregation techniques and biological processes.
- Experience in public contact work and/or experience in program coordination.
